Power Of Alignment

  • Alignment is an arrangement in which two or more things are positioned in a straight line or parallel to each other.
There are two types of alignments according to order.
                                  1.In Aligned
                                  2.Out Of Alignment
1.In Alignment :

2.Out Of Alignment:

Text Alignment:

Text Alignment is the setting of text or image placement relative to a page, column(measure)table cell.
The tools that are used for alignment.

Left-aligned:

The text is aligned to left margin of a page or a column.

Centered:

The text or images will align to center.not left to the margin     nor right to the margin.

Right-aligned:

Here the text is aligned to right side of margin.

Justified:

Here the text is aligned to both left and right side of page.

Numbers Always To The Right
  • The only reason I can think as to why this has become the Standard is due to the good old accounting Ledger.
  • In the old days when accounting was done by hands Companies had books of paper ledgers that held every transaction they need.

There are different types of ledgers

Example-1:

Example-2:

  • I doesn't make much difference any more because Excel is doing the math for you.
This has two purposes

1.Better visualization for Accounting:
2.Differentiate from text:

The excel left-aligns text(Labels) and right-aligns numbers this makes data easier to read.

  • Knowing what is number from text can help to prevent formula errors.

We can change this alignments using toolbar.

Numbers Totaled

A total is whole or complete amount, and "to total" is to add   numbers. if you add 8 and 8, the total is 16.
Example:
  • It is very difficult for humans to calculate when their decimal points are not matched.
  • The below diagrams shows how Excel calculates.

Examples:

 Names to the left

In English and most European languages where words are   read Left-to-Right, text is usually aligned to "left". This is a  default style of text alignment.

Below are some examples:
